UNMC F.A.W. and Fighter by Malcontent1692 UNMC F.A.W. and Fighter by Malcontent1692
So with this picture I have every warship of the UNMC fleet done, and with an extra concept of the UNMC space fighter. The F.A.W. (Fast Attack Warship), is exclusively a UNMC innovation, designed to attack large enemy ships using their small size and speed to escape damage and overwhelm. Fitted with specialized Tier 1 shock cannons, the F.A.W. operates in groups of 5 called flotillas, and in engagements they will circle around the enemy fleet, hitting their flanks and then closing in to hammer enemy ships with cannons, railguns and missiles. The ship's biggest advantage is its speed, as the FAW's reactor is capable of putting out thrust capacity equal to a destroyer. This guarantees that the ship can dodge and outrun enemy fire easily, especially from large ships which require more time to target effectively with main guns. FAW ships attack the enemy ships from extremely close range, which renders the target's cannons useless and forcing the target to use only railgun turrets, lasers or missiles, most of which are usually damaged or destroyed by the FAW ships anyway.

The UNMC fighter is made to engage other enemy fighters effectively from any range. Though small and lightly armored, the Dragonfly is easily the fastest vessel flying through space during any engagement, even able to outmatch Exohuman fighter craft in terms of pure speed. Fighters come equipped with a frontal mounted shock cannon powerful enough to destroy an enemy fighter in at most 2 shots. Also, the fighter sports dual .60 caliber turrets that fire caseless explosive rounds, and can cause a targeted fighter to be ripped to shreds in seconds. Every fighter also carries 6 fire-and-forget MK 349D homing missiles in its undercarriage that are even effective against certain points on warships such as turrets or laser focusing wells.

i find these designs rather intresting, whats your vision? got any other angles of this design?

I appreciate that you like the design, but with all these starships i was following a certain style that i transferred to all the ships. I actually don't have any other angles at the moment but i'm planning on drawing something that shows a few ships from different angles if you're interested.

So the FAW essentially is a Torpedo Boat, go in, smash their jiggly bits with the biggest weapon they have and get out before the turrets turn.

Firefly's pretty looking. Maybe add a few modifications to it in a new deviation. Kind of like the BF109 had like a million different versions, or the Sherman M4A1 also came in the Firefly variant with a huge British cannon replacing the dinky 76 mm barrel. I'm thinking air superiority with higher mobility, strafing runs with maybe an added Gauss Turret or a beefed up laser, and bombing strikes that replace 3 of the missiles with a heavy payload shock warhead.

Basically that is exactly what it is, kind of the hit and run strategy, kill the target with many smaller wounds rather than a huge hit. And at top speed they're virtually impossible to track and hit with shock cannons.

But i'm with you on that, I plan to do a little more tweaking to the fighter in the near future so this probably won't be the final version of it. And I was thinking of modifications like those weapons too, like the standard fighter would look as it does here, but they can be fitted with laser cannons or railguns instead of shock cannons. And fighters that are assigned to in-atmosphere sectors do substitute missiles for carpet bombs, shock bombs and rarely low yield WMDs, but only in desperate situations.

I would assume the UNMC has designated fighter-bombers as well, as relying on a single model might fulfill all roles but it would never excel at any, obviously.
It's also really interesting how the angled catamaran design is a red line from the smallest fighters to the Valiant battleships.

They definitely do have craft built for specific roles. For this universe militaries don't use as many different vehicles for separate roles as we do today, since technology has made it so a single vehicle can complete many roles and excel at it, but that's not saying they don't follow this tactic at all. Like fighters, there's a standard one like in this picture but there's also a heavier model designed to hit points on warships when the UN fleets want to keep their ships back at first.
But i really wanted to keep that design since i like the looks :) At least with their spacecraft, atmospheric craft follow a different design flavor that I'll be putting up here soon.

Obviously the atmosphere provides things like air resistance, gravitational pull and such that you can't combine with an exo-atmospheric craft. Well maybe, but it would not be as capable.

Exactly, trying to make a craft like that do all kinds of crazt stuff in an atmosphere might not give you the best performance, luckily the UNMC is quite good at spending money on machines of war so I think they've got all the combat roles covered pretty well.

Hooray for ridiculously humongous military budgets.
