Description

This model desperately needed a visual update, sadly I had completely forgotten about it until now. But i really like how the Gen 2 version of this ended up, and in terms of its design I think it may be one of the most visually pleasing weapons in the new line. There was also a bit more of a departure from the original model compared to my usual tastes but I think it may have worked out for the best since the original model was a kind of a mess. This time I took a focus on making a truly military looking gun, something that doesn't look too outrageous or futuristic and fairly simple in its basic design. I also wanted it to look light and easy to carry, since the CC-10 is the UNMC's lighter and smaller counterpart to their other sniper rifle the M-130.

Full Designation: Cassio Cannarsa 10 Semi-automatic marksman rifle
Manufacturer: Sparta Armories (Original blueprints made by Cassio Cannarsa Weapon systems)
Type: Semi automatic designated marksman rifle
Introduced: 2335
Magazine capacity: 18 rounds
Cartridge: 9 x 55 mm High velocity MG (match grade)
Effective range: 1,000 meters
Max effective range: 1,550 meters
Muzzle Velocity: 3,800 ft/sec

The CC-10 rifle was conceptualized in 2333 by the growing civilian weapons manufacturer company Cassio Cannarsa WS, originally named the XM33 hunting rifle designed to bring down large game. Luckily for the fairly small company, at a weapons demonstration the experimental rifle garnered the interest of several representatives of Sparta Armories, who had already gained a contract with the UNMC for their increasingly popular M-48 Hercules Battle rifle. The representatives offered to work in tandem on the new rifle's development and present it to the UNMC as a competitor in their Lightweight sniper system program, which CCWS almost immediately agreed on. With the help of Sparta Armories, the M33 design was remodeled into an even deadlier platform, transitioning from being a 6.8 mm rifle to the newer 9 x 55 mm round created by Sparta Armories themselves and used with the M-48. Its new design was quickly completed and presented to the UNMC by the middle of 2334, and ended up winning the contract for the UNMC program. By early 2335, the rifle was in wide production and had been given the official military designation: CC-10 Semi-automatic marksman rifle (the CC prefix being in honor of Cassio Cannarsa himself, who was killed in an EMPIRE bombing attack in late 2334). The CC-10 saw action all throughout the last stretch of the EMPIRE campaign, and was really put to the test across human colonized space through the immediately following Factions War. As far forward as 2350, the CC-10 was in even more widespread service within the UNMC, and had become the standard sniper rifle of the UN Army, while the UN Armored Corps stuck with the M-130 as their standard. Even so, the CC-10 is still used quite frequently in the UNAC and is preferred by some due to its lighter and shorter frame, more rounds per magazine, faster firing rate and smaller ammunition. The rifle is renowned for its capabilities of pinpoint accuracy even at extreme range, high damage to targets, low recoil per shot, and modularity.
